Literature Text

I hear tires
disturbing the
gravel's sleep
much like thoughts of you
     keep me from dreaming.

The door slams,
footsteps ricochet.
There's so much
I'd like to say,
     but I can't stop screaming.

Like an alarm,
the bell awakens me.
I kept it all in,
trying not to let my heart bleed
all over the gun in front of me.

I promised you
that I would never leave
but you walked away
forcing me to grieve
for all the chances you never gave to me.

And your lies, your promises,
they still haunt me in my dreams.
Thinking about cutting the last two lines.

I really like the first half. Very expressive, and vivid. I do however think that the forth stanza sort of contradicts itself. Mabye, just a suggestion: And now I'm living, haunted, dreaming your lies, and promises. Just an idea. But like I said I really think the work has merit.
